Biblioteca
A finales de los años 60 se creó la Biblioteca municipal de Polanco con el nombre de «Cumbrales» denominación de Polanco en la novela «El sabor de la tierruca» y en el año 2001 se remodeló la biblioteca, modernizándola y otorgándola una nueva ubicación en las antiguas escuelas de niñas en Polanco, a la vez que se la daba otro nombre: Biblioteca municipal «José Mª de Peredaª en honor a nuestro insigne escritor costumbrista.
La biblioteca municipal presta los siguientes servicios:
- Lectura en sala para adultos, infantil y juvenil, contando colecciones bibliográficas de narrativa; infantil/juvenil; colección local y regional; poesía; teatro y materias con una amplia colección de manuales y monografías para consulta. Contando tambien con guía de viajes; prensa diaria; documentales y películas.
- Préstamo personal de libros, videograbaciones, recursos electrónicos y grabación sonora.
- Biblioteca virtual con dos ordenadores con acceso a Internet. Para el servicio de préstamo y de Internet se requiere el carné de lector que se obtiene en la propia biblioteca. Además la Biblioteca realiza actividades de animación a la lectura dirigidas especialmente a los niños, realizando sesiones de cuentacuentos, títeres y actos encaminados a fomentar la lectura y uso de la biblioteca.
La Biblioteca de Polanco pertenece al Sistema de Lectura Pública de Cantabria.

Telecentro
El Telecentro está situado en los bajos de la Biblioteca Municipal «José Mª de Pereda».
Servicios de aplicación de las Nuevas Tecnologías de Comunicación para socios y vecinos del municipio.
- Dispone de 12 ordenadores con conexión a Internet, webcam, lectores de DNI digital y servicio de impresión.
- Ofrece cursos de informática a través del Centro de Formación Municipal, así como talleres informáticos y ciber lúdicos para niños.
El horario del Telecentro es de 16 a 21 horas de lunes a viernes y los sábados de 10 a13 horas.
